Error -200486 "Specified channel is not in task"

Forgive me, but I know there are a lot more visitors to this forum than any other, so I'm posting my problem here as well...

We have a PCI 6221 DAQmx card in an RT (Desktop ETS) system hooked up to an SCXI 1001 chassis with 5 AI and 2 AO modules. When I create an AI task and test it, I get the following error: Error -200486 "Specified channel is not in task". The AO tasks work fine, but the AI task shows up with a red x on it.

We have almost the same setup for another system, but the only difference between them is that on the system that's not working, I upgraded to DAQmx 8.1, while the other one still has 8.0. I did the upgrade because mass compiling to LabVIEW 8.0.1 kept crashing. I don't know how I was able to mass compile on the other computer, though.

I have a support request open with NI, but any suggestions from here would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sima

As you know the task list is set up using MAX.  So some problems could be that the task doesn't exist, you have an input connected to an output connection, you have configured the card incorrectly, the selector under the VI is set to output and you are using an input, or you are using the wrong VI.

Hope this helps

Hi Matthew, everything was setup correctly and just like our previous system. Anyway, all it took was a repair on MAX and it started to work.

Thanks,
