Error 37 on windows XP with LPT 1 using out port.vi

I'm trying to write to LPT 1 using the out port.vi on windows XP but for some reason it isn't recognising the port. I have tried using the serial port.vi and it comes up with error 37. I have downloaded the HWaccess out port/in port.vi's from the ni website and this still does not work. I am using the LabVIEW basic 6.1.
Please if someone can help.

The Inport.vi and Outport.vi that ship with LabVIEW 6.1 are not supported on XP. This KnowledgeBase discusses the issue. It also includes some ways you can work around that. This should help get you going! Best of luck.

I have already downloaded this file and the vi still does not recognise the printer port.

outport.vi and inport.vi functions don't work at win9X system.

maybe for VB - but for LabVIEW & Win9x system you are wrong.........
