Error 6 again.. causation factor?

I got another Error 6 problem popping up at odd spots in my vi.

Error 6 occurred at GPIB Write in E4418BEPMPowerMeter.vi

Possible reason(s):

LabVIEW: Generic file I/O error.
---
NI-488: I/O operation aborted.

Is it possible that this error keeps occuring to me because I'm using an inferior PCI GPIB Card that I got from Measurement Computing?

I hesitate to answer affirmative but then it is certainly a possibility.
Other possibilities include bad cables, installation problems, a
defective GPIB device, or simply some sort of interference with other
parts of your software, maybe talking to other GPIB instruments.

Talking to your NI sales rep and asking him for a GPIB loaner card for a
few days to check if the card mi
ght be the culprit is probably a good
idea. He or she will likely cooperate if they see that they could sell
you a card.

It could be the card, I'm obviously not an expert on MC's GPIB cards.

An error like this at a GPIB write would make me think that the GPIB card addressed the device to listen and itself to talk, but for some reason the GPIB bus/instrument responded incorrectly or the card responded incorrectly to the commands that were sent to it. Since it seems sporadic, perhaps it could be timing or a questionable cable.

If you suspect that it may be the GPIB card, your sales rep would be more than happy to find a loaner NI PCI-GPIB card for you. If you do not know your sales representative, you can call 800-433-3488 to get in touch with them.
