yeah tried that, however failed since the error 7 pops up due to the extreme length.
I've copied the string and put it in old classic word and ended up with 307 characters, when placing the subfolder on the desktop, the pathlength decreased to 122 and worked perfectly.
So it seems we've found the bug...
note to myself:
stop making sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-folders
anyway, problem solved from my point of view. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
Take care, and have an amazing 2010!

Ummmm... huh?
This is a public forum, so I'm sorry, but I do not respond to personal email addresses left on this forum. How do I know you're not a SPAMer?
Do you have a specific question about the topic being discussed in this thread? If not, please create a new thread.

There's no need to apologize. I just didn't understand why you were asking me to write to your personal email address. Yes, I am of Italian origin. My Italian is quite rusty, however. Enough to get by.
What is your question? Is it related to this? It appears that you reposted it in the Instrument Control forum. I see that Dennis has initially answered your question, and he is far more of an expert than I am. But thank you for the compliment.

I am having the same problem now. This problem never occured for the past 6 months. Why is it happening now? I checked the length of my path string and it is 83. Not so bad is it? What would have changed? No one could have changed the program because I gave them the .exe of the LabVIEW program. Help!! 😞

Here is a screenshot of what the problem is? I am trying to create a path from a string (path plus timestamp). Somehow, the file is created in the folder, but the path in LabVIEW doesnt show the filename that is the timestamp. This was working for a really long time. I am seeing this problem since yesterday.

Hi VeeJay,
As this thread is now relatively old, I would suggest that if you were post your question in a new thread, you would receive a far better response. I would also recommend including a link to this thread in your new post.
