EtherCAT trouble converting from LV2013 to LV2017

I suspect something similar here - one of the 1500+ VIs in my project got corrupted in the copy process, or in the re-compiling.

I've given it to Tech Support, just in case it's useful to have  a case to study.

Because of all the flailing around I did resolving another problem, I plan to do the whole process again - start from LV2013, copy all 1500+ VIs to my VM, fix the issue that I finally figured out and rebuild.  I suspect it won't happen in this same VI, because it's a random event.  We'll see.

Ah, you're also using VM! I use VM Workstation and I really don't like the copying use experience. I also encounter randomly copying fails if drag files or folders to the VM directly. Instead, I use share folders or file servers.
