Exe viSearchPath doesn't work for PPLs?

According to this NI article you can add viSearchPath to an exe's ini file and LabVIEW will include that path in dependency searching. But it doesn't seem to work if that dependency is a class inside a PPL (packed project library).

Does anyone have any knowledge on this? There's nothing on ni.com to suggest PPL content shouldn't work with viSearchPath.
