I just upgraded our LabVIEW suite from 2015 SP1 f7 to 2017, including (in order) FPGA Module, Xilinx Tools, Real-Time Module, R Series Multifunction RIO, Vision Acquisition, Vision Development, DAQmx, and CompactRIO. We have a PCI-7833R (now supported under CompactRIO for some reason) installed in a dedicated RT desktop, and it appears under the RT Target in MAX. Opening a project in LV2015, the FPGA target is still available. However, the same project opened in LV2017 no longer recognizes any FPGA device on the RT Target. I have tried removing the 7833R, reinstalling software, and reinstalling the 7833R, but the problem in LV2017 persists. The FPGA target shows up in the project with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle warning that reads:
"Software support for this FPGA target is not installed on the computer. You can view and copy some of the items in the project, but you cannot compile any VIs under this FPGA target until you install the target support. Refer to the specific hardware documentation for information about the appropriate drivers and for information about installing and configuring the FPGA target."
However, CompactRIO 17.0 is installed on both the Host and Target according to MAX, so I don't know why this warning is appearing. There appears to be some problem with locating the driver for the 7833R under CompactRIO 17.0 and Multifunction RIO in 15.5. Does anyone have ideas for quickie patch, or is this a bug to report?

I suspect the issue is with the LabVIEW and R Series Multifunction RIO driver versions you have. The last version the 7833R is supported in is 16.0, but LabVIEW 2017 is not supported until Multifunction RIO 17.0.
You can find info on minimum software support for a device by going to the following page:
https://www.ni.com/en/support/documentation/compatibility/09/software-support-for-compactrio--compac...
It's also very helpful to determine what drivers you need to communicate with a device instead of downloading a bunch of drivers that you might not need.

Thank you for the reply, but as I stated in my original post, I did check the supported devices under both Multifunction RIO 17.0 and CompactRIO 17.0 prior to installation. The PCI-7833R is listed as a supported device under CompactRIO 17.0, but the drivers are not being recognized by the host.
Could there be some conflict/overwriting between Multifunction and Compact, even though Compact was installed after Multifunction?

The 7833R is one of the R Series multifunction RIO boards, so I suspect there may be a typo in the supported devices list on the CompactRIO driver, since the product type of the board lends to the inference that the board requires the R Series Multifunction RIO driver.
The URL I linked to in my last post also points out R Series Multifunction RIO drivers to install, not CompactRIO drivers.
The 7833R board is listed as "obsolete" in the NI store, which means it probably isn't going to be supported in more recent versions of the drivers or LabVIEW. It might be time to consider updating the system.
