Failed to create directory auto recovery VIs message

I have installed Labview 8.20 on Linux (redhate 4 WS) but when I want to run a very small VI (for eaxample
of of the tutorial example) , I always get the error message "Failed to create directory for auto recovery VIs".
If I press "OK" the VI starts 'normally'  but I would like to understand this error message and fixe it.
Thanks for your replies.

This sounds like a file permission issue.  Did you install Labview with administrative privileges?  You might just change the permissions of the Labview directory (recursively) and see what happens.

Hello Eric,

Thanks for your answer.
Yes I think you are right and that it could be a directory provilege problem.
I installed Labview as root, but in normal operation I run it as a normal user.
In fact, if I run Labview as root, the problem does not occur, but it is not the correct
way to work.
It would be very nice if the error message give the full path.
Thanks again.

Francis
