Failed to update my 8.2 VI to 8.5.1

I like to update my 8.2 VIs to 8.5.1.  I tried a mass compiling first and then compiled the project again.  It failed and complained about one perticular VI.  So I opened up that VI and tried to save it without any changes. But I cannot save it and got the errors: "LabView: An input parameter is invalid.  For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as? @.    Cannot save VI " xxxxx.vi". LabView Save error code 0:"

I don't know what this error message really means.  By the way the project was succesfully compiled with 8.2.

Can you post that specific VI you are having problems with?

You can post any version of a VI and anyone can open it as long as they have the right version of LabVIEW on their computer.

Unfortunately I cannot post my code here.  It sounds asking help without giving any detailsL    I tried removing some code in suspicious; so far not found anything yet.

I installed 8.5.1 over 8.2.  Is it required to remove 8.2 before installing 8.5.1?

It is not required. You can have multiple versions of LabVIEW installed on the same computer at the same time.
