Finding missing vi's after updating from Labview 6 to 8.2

Hello all,

We had written a simple .vi file using Labview 6. The block diagram consisted of a DAQ Assistant, a Signal Filter and some charts and graphs. We're using the NI BNC-2110 to collect pressure readings from a pressure sensor.

But after we upgraded to Labview 8.2 (student version), and tried running the vi program again, some error messages popped up. Labview 8 was looking for and could not find the following .vi files:

Convert 1DWfm to DDT.vi
DAQmx Read (Analog 1D Wfm NChan NSamp).vi
DAQmx Read.vi
DAQmx Timing (Sample Clock).vi
DAQmx Timing.vi
DAQmx Create Channel (AI-Voltage-Basic).vi
DAQmx Create Virtual Channel.vi
DAQmx Create Task.vi
Configure DAQmx Assistant.vi

We suspect the problem lies within the DAQ Assistant block. When we tried to open up the properties of the DAQ Assistant in Labview, the error messages again popped up. It seems like there's a compatibility problem in the DAQ assistance between versions 6 and 8.  Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem?

Thanks!
Nate

Have you installed DAQmx?

Hi Nate,
AnalogKid makes a good point. (And he has a great screen name if you look at the whole thing!)  Make sure that you have installed the device drivers (in this case DAQmx) after installing any software.  As mentioned in this Knowledge Base article, the driver will only install functionality for the software that it detects on your system.
Let us know if you still have a problem finding your DAQ functions.
Thanks,

Thanks, installing the drivers worked. I didn't realize that DAQ wasn't in the regular installation.

Hi all.

I'm having a similar problem... I have some simple vis from LabView 7.  I just intalled the academic version of LabView 8 (from 2006) and when I try to open them, it, too, looks for the same DAQmx files.  I have loaded the drivers.  I tried to look at the aformentioned knowledge base link, but it gave me an error.  Any ideas?

Thanks in advanced.

Hey Rob,

As mentioned by Luke, the driver will only install functionality for the software that it detects on your system. The Knowledge Base mentioned previously has been combined with several similar Knowledgebases and moved. The information it contained can be found in the following Knowledgebase.

Let us know if you are still having trouble finding your DAQ functions.

Thanks,
