We have many PCs deployed with Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit), running NI 488.2 3.1.2, VISA 5.2 and running GPIB-USB-HS interfaces.
If the PC ever hibernates (a common occurrence for laptops), when the PC is awoken, GPIB communications fail 100% of the time. The interface is visible from MAX, but cannot communicate any longer - no devices will appear if a device scan is initiated. The only way to get communications back is to either (1) disconnect the GPIB-USB-HS and connect it to a different USB port (such that the driver is reloaded) or (2) shut down and restart the PC.
I'm fairly certain that this isn't a 'new' bug, as older versions of 488.2 / VISA show it as well. (This issue has prompted us to update to the latest 488.2 / VISA versions on most of our machines, which is obviously a plus, but that hasn't resolved the issue.)
Apart from completely disabling hibernation, are there any known workarounds to prevent this hangup?
