GPIB on different computers

Hello!

I´ve compiled a program which communicates with an thermography camera. On my notebook, it works properly, but on the desktop pc gpib communication crashs after a few aqusitions from the camera.
I use the same card (PCMCIA-GPIB) and the same driver version. My notebook is very old (Pentium 3, 500 MHz, WinXP SP1), the desktop PC is new (P4, 3 GHz, WinXP SP2).

In the program, I use standard GPIB-VIs.

Hope you can help me.

Greetings
Andy

Do a search on Win-XP with SP2.

I have experienced strange behaviour when I attempted to upgrade XP to SP2. I even turned off the automatic update features from my PC.

I had the same code on my PC running fine until it (WinXP) self-installed an update. I had to remove the latest update in order for LV to work again.

A friend experience the same thing when he installed SP2. In his case, he had to re-install Win-XP.

I am just sharing some experience. I am not saying that XP-SP2 is bad, but I did notice that you wrote that your Laptop has SP1 whereas the PC has SP2.

If the culprit is SP2, then share your findings within this thread. Who knows maybe there IS some incompatibility issue.

Hello,

with NI-MAX you could NI-SPY to log the commands from the GPIB-device. What error happens?

Try to remove SP2, maybe there is a incompatibility.

Could you post your VI and the log-file here?

Have a nice day,
