Hi

I've just found this driver for the HP4195A. It appears to work really well for the spectrum analysing function but I'm not sure if it is working properly as a network analyser.

Which input do I need to select for it to run as a network analyser and how can I plot the results on a smith chart?

I appreciate any help anyone can give on this.

Caroline

Hi Albert,

I am new to LabVIEW. I am trying to read the S parameters from HP E8361A  to my laptop and after I downloaded the instrument driver from NI website, I could not select the network analyzer I am using (I only see "COM3") although I saw the network analyzer is connected to my laptop by MAX. I also tried to download your VIs but it is said that the version is too old to be opened. Can you help me with this? Thanks a lot.

What driver did you download? There are both LabVIEW 7 and 8 versions available. You should be able to open either in LabVIEW. How is your instrument connected to the pc? Also, what does your post have to do with the original thread about the 4195? New questions require a new thread.

Hi!

Is there a possibility to readout the display of the hp4195A without changing any settings of the analyzer? I tried to use 'NwAnalyzer Read Trace.vi' but the datapoints I get are not the same as the ones displayed.

Thanks

Marcus

Ok this problem disappears 🙂 but I have another question is it possible to readout the phase? By now I managed only to readout the Impedance.

Hi all, I have a HP 4193A Vector Impedance meter that I would like to read back the impedance, phase, and frequency into a text file while it performs a frequency sweep over a range of frequencies.  I'm pretty new to labview, does anyone have a good starting point for me?

Hello,

after reading the discussions on this forum we still haven't managed to run the example.vi in LabView 8.2 without errors. We are working with the spectrum analyzer HP4195a and using GPIB-USB connection. Our error is 'Wait for GPIB RQS in NwAnalyzer Read Trace.vi'

We also tried communicating through MAX. We were able to write data to the device without errors but when trying to read from the device an error 0xBFFF0015 occured.

We would really use some help with this or just an advice on what could be the source of this problem.

Thanks in advance.
