Get LabView ask where I want to save my PDF-report

Hi,

My problem is that when I am trying to print my LabView-report to a PDF ,LabView  automatically  prints  the  report with a  default name and  location. I  want LabView to ask where I want to save the new PDF file and with what filename. Now it only overwrites the old file with the same filename . When  I print in any other programme, like MS Word, a popup appears and I may choose where to save my file. So my Adobe settings should be correct.
Is it possible to somehow get this to work in LabView?
I use the Ms Office Report vi  and I have a template in Excel.

hi Geni,

in configuration of the MS Office Report you can choose report destination at the bottom... selecting save to file you can choose configure save to file options... on the left you can check ask user to choose file...
is this what you mean?
if not, please attach a short example of your vi.

greets!

Hi Watermann,

No, the setting is at Print to Printer at Report destination. I have the Adobe PDF as my default printer. When I then print the file to a PDF I cannot choose where to put the file or what to call it.

ok, this must be an option of Adobe... the labview settings end with the name of the printer.
perhaps you can configure the PDF printer so that he will ask for the file... don't have a PDF printer installed so I couldn't look for it...

Hi Geni,
Why dont you make the PDF printer as default and give the print command from labview then automatically the PDF convertor will pop up a window for asking the file name and path.
I am using the CUTE PDF WRITER,and it works fine here.
best regards
vicky

Hi,
Well that's just the problem it does not do this in this case(at least for me). And the default settings that I have for Adobe does not seem to be called after in this situation. LabView or the MS Office Report-vi  just seems to have some own printer default settings, since LabView does not recognize the changes I make in the settings in Abobe Destiller.

What is it currently doing?  Does it place a file anywhere and just not allow you to name it...or does it not create the PDF at all?

Hi Brett,

I does make a PDF, but it always names it Template_LabView1.pdf (my Excel templates name is Template_LabView.xlt) and it creates in one default location and naturally overwrites the old one each time I make a new report.
