The copies are only there because you have parallellism in LabVIEW.

When reading the data from a global or local a copy is made to ensure access from other threads in the program when needing the data.

"but without knowing the source code for LV, I doubt you will come up with any ideas that the NI people haven't thought about."

Very true. While some "handicaps" have been pointed out , one cannot  stop admiring the amount of  robustness that has gone into the making of LV. I atleast have  not faced any situation where the screen just froze in the process of designing.  Most of the run time freezing has happened because of  buggy coding, rather than due to an inherent bug - which  I suppose is just not there...

Incidentally in what language is LV itself written and compiled  ?

When are we going to be able to read an array of plc register data(100 continuous registers) with a single tag in the DSC module?? OPC servers have been capable of this for years.

Is it me? I have been looking forward to this podcast, but haven't seen any message from JRA  with a link to it.

It's not you.

Either it hasn't been published yet, or they simply didn't bother telling us that it has.

I would go with the former (and would hazard a guess that it won't happen before NI week, which is next week).

Hey guys,

There have been problems getting the podcast up on a page. Therefore, I'm going to post it to this thread tomorrow. I need to reduce the file size first and then I'll post it here. Thanks!

Hey guys,

It's a large file, so I put it on the ftp site. You can get to it here:

ftp://ftp.ni.com/incoming . It's the file named LabVIEW Architecture Podcast Project.zip. Let me know if you have trouble downloading it.

I see it too.

Looks like the file needs to be moved out of the "incoming" directory.
