Getting a write to file to stop once while rest of program is running

I am writing to a text file which is going to be part of a larger vi. I want to write it just one time while the program is running not all the time I have a it so I can turn on and off when I want to write it to a file but once I turn it on I cant get it to stop after it writes to the file once

Hi Brandon,
this sounds like a consumer-producer problem. Search for examples with the example finder in your Help- menu. On the other hand you could post a simplified VI that describes your problem. This makes it easier to understand the difficulties you have.
