I have updated my video driver with no noticeable effect besides a slight headache before I got the refresh rate boosted back up. 😉 (thank you for the link)
The same is true with renaming the .ini file - no change (and a new one was generated as normal).
I am not on a multi-monitor system. However, the display settings seem to think that I am, and when I went to check the settings of the non-existant second, smaller display, I saw they were set at 8-bit color. "Ah ha!" I thought to myself. I had to turn on the "extend my desktop to this monitor" setting for it to accept any changes that I made, but I did, and then it let me change it to 32-bit color. Then I verified that it didn't fix the problem. 😛 Maybe I'll try restarting after changing that setting, and if that works, I'll edit this message. If not, any other ideas? BTW, my normal monitor settings do not allow 8-bit color as an option.
