I am addressing the idea of geothermal for heating and cooling my residence. I would like to get a reading for a year on the ground temps in my area, Gilbert, AZ. Please recommend a sending unit that I can put in the ground and measure the changes in ground temp. I would like to set them at 10', 8' and 6' depths.
Thanks

Cool (or maybe not) :). I think any standard thermocouple, RTD, or thermistor would work. I think the main issue would be moisture ingress, so you may have to conformal coat or pot the sensors and electrical connections to prevent it.
Hopefully you don't run into a layer of caliche 😞
