HOWTO: Infra red remote control

Dear Sirs:

I'm interested in developing a type of Remote Control for my PC.
I expect that when LV gets the signals it procceds acordingly to the user selection.

Let's say that I have a generic remote control (numeric keypad and volumen buttons) and that I have an USB infrared-port attached to my pc.

I have found several VIs on the palette, which I understand are suitable for communications but not for this case. tion and this kind of applications.

But, I guess it shouldn't be a big problem, I have seen developments on some Scientific Calculators (i.e. from HP) which learn from a remote control on their Ir port, and later the calculator can be used to control the appliances.

I guess that the issue here is to read the signals of every button to "teach" my VI what to expect to read later.

Where can I find some info about this kind of application?

I will appreciate any kind of help on this matter.
