Has anyone worked with communicating with a Garmin GPS using their protocol?

I was wondering if you ever tried using the NI made vi for GPS systems (Read GPS Time, Position, Velocity, and Course Heading).  I found this vi (via search here) when looking for a possible GPS examples and eventually converted it to ver 7.0 for my case.  It used the serial port.  A few months ago I was looking to use it with my Garmin 18 USB GPS unit but never have had the time to work on it.  Just looking at the vi, I wasn't sure how to get it to work with the USB instead of serial like the vi was made for.  I wasn't sure if you had any experience with the vi or anything like that.  It looks like it would be useful if I ever used it.

Just looking for any ideas, suggestions or comments.  Thanks...

What VIs are you referring to?  What exactly are looking for, that is convert what to UTM?

I did not try this vi since it uses NEMA format.  I was more interested in obtaining Waypoint data which is only available through Garmin's proprietary format.

Based on Dark Eagle response above, the VIs you are asking for either have not been created, or someone who has created them has not posted them on the web.  I would recommend looking into the following links to learn more about converting lat and longs to UTM:

thanks for sharing your code.

I think that somehow I failed installing the waymex .net files.

when I try to configure the .net files in the .net configuration, i get the message that my assembly does not have a strong name..

what does it mean?

Don`t I need to configure the USB?

(i never used .net before so I don`t know how to use it.)
