Please share your wiring diagram and pictures of your connection. This sounds like a electrical signal issue than USB-6008 issue.

Hi skdubey,

Hi Greg,

  • Is this possibly an instrumentation error, or is the USB-6008 reading wrong due to misconfiguration?

  • Should I rely only on manual scaling in LabVIEW rather than custom scaling in the DAQ Assistant?

  • Could this be a grounding or wiring issue causing false voltage readings?

  • What's the best practice for setting the input range and scaling for this sensor setup?

Any insights or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Which Greg are you talking to?

When you have such problems I recommend two simple items:

  1. Start without any scaling, read just raw voltage values. You can add scaling later after resolving basic problems.
  2. Get rid of the DAQAssistent AT ALL, in the long run it will not assist your very well! Read this and jump over the first paragraph…

LabVIEW comes with a huge example library and there are lots of example VIs for DAQmx. There is a basic Voltage reading example to start with!

When the hardware wiring is setup correctly (and checked with a simple DMM) then you can attach your USB6008. It should give the same reading as your DMM, otherwise check the wiring (again) or the USB6008…
