Help in using LV6 and keithley 2400

Message Edited by giam on 12-21-2005 01:17 AM

Hi,

I'm new to LV6 and am learning to implement LV6 and K2400 for simple measurement of voltage/current and saving the data etc.
I have come up with a simple vi on my own but its not working and there's an error msg on K2400 "Query interrupted". What does it mean?
I've attached the vi below, will appreciate if anyone can point out my mistakes.

Regards
giam

Hello giam,

sorry, I had no time to answer in your older thread...

For your vi:
I didn't try this on my K2400, but some comments:
- You don't need a timeout on each GPIB command. If you really (really?) need this 200ms short timeout (standard is 10s, which is almost always fine for me) just use "Set TimeOut" once.

- You use "GPIB Wait" without wiring a "wait state vector". So why do you use it? Btw. I don't need it when communicating with a K2400...

In conclusion: I think the "query interrupted" comes from the short timeout value you use. Give the sourcemeter more time (especially the :Read? command) and the error will probably go away.

Best regards,
GerdW

Hello giam,

It looks like that all your commands are not terminated by LF therefore K2400 can not recognize them.

Hello giam and Youri,

the K2x00 series devices don't need a LF termination to recognize commands. I have several of them and they all work without...

Best regards,
GerdW

Hello GerdW,

Thank you for your help.

I have a working program now.. just need some more adjustments.. btw, was wondering how to create a link to prompt me to save my data to file (eg Excel spreadsheet) aft each set of measurements. if need be.. i'll attach my program on the next thread..

Regards

giam

It is rather pathetic that for a project that was due today that you waited until today to start work on it. Then expected someone else to do the work for you by giving you a sample VI.

If you did any preliminary work, then upload a VI for us to help you with.
There is still time.

Hello.  I am currently conducting research at the keck graduate institute and I need some help measuring the current being drawn in a micropump.  I have Labview 7.1 and a kethley 2400 instrument, however, I am not familiar on a way to have the two machines interact.  I would like to get a time history for the current drawn by the micropump and do some data analysis in excel.  I noticed that people within this forum have discussed similar issues.  Does anyone know a way to measure the current over a defined time interval.

I would just measure the current running through the system and multiply it by time, however, my power source is hooked up to a relay board which fires for a certain pulse length in ms and a pulse delay of x ms follows.  Thus, I need to be able to acquire current measurements in a small range; I need a reading every 10 ms.  Thanks in advance for you help.
