Help monitoring device useing synchronous serial and Labview

Hi

I have lurked on this forum before, but this is my first post.

I am trying to monitor the output of a simple device that communicates with another device using Synchronous serial,

There are two wires I believe one is data and the other the clock.

Monitoring them on a scope, the clock is made up of 11 bytes eight cycles long, the first data byte is 01010101 and the last 00000000 (I may have this inverted) some of the bytes between change when the devices setting change.

Each byte is about 1ms long and each 11 byte packet is 13ms long, there is about 60ms between packets, the device is always sending out packets.

I only have a basic understanding of serial commutation, the terminology used above is most likely incorrect.

So, what type of serial is this?, is it a common format?

How can I read this using a PC, can I use a D I/O card and read it using Lab View?

Any way to convert this to asynchronous serial using a logic circuit?

Any help would be appreciated.

You at best are going to get a bunch of guesses with a question like that.

If the letters "NG" have anything to do with this question or the associated equipment, then contact me off-list to find out what my guess is. I am asking to take this off-list for security reasons.

I can be reached at

bar@DSAutomation.com

and please indicate what "NG" means to you. If your NG and my NG match-up I may be able to help. Otherwise just forget about this post and I will watch for other replies.
