Hello,
I'm a technician in a high school.
I need to install Labview 2017.
For this I have installed NI Volume license manager 3.1 on our license server.
Then I installed the .lic license file sent by NI Agreements.
Then I install Labview 2017 on the client computer in evaluation mode.
On the client, in the license manager, I add my license server which finds my network licenses.
But when I restart the client again, the customer always asks me to activate.
How do I make the client use the licenses available on the NI license server?
Thank you very much for your help.
cordially

If you open the NI License manager and go to the "Volume licenses" section and expand it and everything under it, one of those things should have a box that's colored green (if you don't, then the license server setup isn't working properly yet). Click that one. Then on the right side of the screen, it'll show some details, and one of those detail fields is the serial number. Write that down. Then the next time it asks you to activate, use that serial number.

Hello, I do not understand what you ask me.
In the NI Volume License Manager, I can not find the serial number you are talking to me.
The state of the server is well started and I have in "licenses" license Academic Site License Spring 2017 for 50 computers (competing model computing).
On the client, Labview always asks me to activate my license with an NI username and password.
However, I have informed the NI license manager 4 of the Labview client to point it to my license server.
Thank you for your help. cordially

VLM is a PITA I totally regret my company's decision to go to a VLM. Now all of my development has to be done at my desktop then I have to carry compiled code out to the lab to test it as the NI Licence Server and our lab computers are on two different networks.
But I think that even when using a VLM you still have to register or "activate" your copy with NI just like if it was a stand alone licence.

Hello,
You can find the process to connect the client machine to the server in the second part of this document :

Let me know if you have another question or you can call the technical support.
Have a good week-end.
