How can I import an image to the DSC Image Navigator with transparency?

Hi,
I'm trying to create some custom images with transparency to use in my LabView application.  I am working with the DSC Image Navigator and Paint Shop Pro.  In Paint Shop Pro I create an image (.wmf file) with a transparent background.  I import this image into the DSC Image Navigator.  When I place this image onto a LabView Front Panel, it has a white background, the transparency has been lost.

I'm not sure if my problem is on the Paint Shop Pro side, or the DSC Image Navigator side.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to preserve the image transparency.

Thanks for your help,
Phil

Thanks for the link, I was able to add a transparent .gif to my front panel.

What's disappointing is that the three file types that support transparency in LabView (.gif, .mng, and .png) cannot be imported into the DSC Image Navigator.  If anyone is aware of how to import a transparent symbol into the DSC Image Navigator, I'd be much obliged for any help.

Hi Phil,

The DSC Image Navigator is capable of importing .wmf files with transparency intact, so I suspect that you may be running into an issue where Paint Shop Pro may not be outputting the file in the format expected.  In fact, as of LabVIEW 7.1, you can import .WMF files with transparency directly into LabVIEW as well.  Which version of the DSC Module are you working with that you notice this behavior?

You may also wish to try importing the attached .wmf graphic into LabVIEW - this image retained its transparency data correctly on my system (LV 7.1 and 8.0 tested).
Cheers,
