How can I use BNC-2120 to drive the 6V or 12V relay?

I'm a beginner in using LabView and my PC is connected to BNC-2120. i want to drive the relay (6V or 12V) using BNC-2120. i had tried using LabView to generate 10V voltage trough the analog output of BNC-2120. however, when i connect it to the relay, it doesn't. i tried to measure the BNC output using multimeter and the output is exactly 10V. i tried to connect it to both 12V and 6V relay but both doesn't work. is it because it has no sufficient current? is it any other way to drive the relay using BNC-2120?

You've got it in one, there is probably insufficient current from one output of the DAQ device.

If you only want one or two relays what you could do is parallel up a couple of digital outputs; use a diode for each output and put flyback diodes on the relays to protect the digital outputs.

The general specs for a TTL digital output board seem to be around 24mA per channel and about 192mA total. I found a 5v coil relay needing 300mw (about 60mA) for reliable operation. So you would need around 2 to 3 outputs (depending on the exact power requirements) to drive the quoted example. Note that the power consumption will drop once the device is engaged.

sorry for not replying for a long time.

i had found a way on how to energize the relay using BNC. i used a simple circuit with a transistor and a power suply to drive the relay. i connect the output of the BNC to the base of the transistor and the transistor become a switch for the relay. i had never try do as you suggest but i think it might be working. the problem is that i need to use every output for different relays. anyway, thanks to Conseils for giving your suggestion.
