Could you describe a little bit more what you want to do ?
If you have 3D graph on the front panel, make an "invoke node" on the front panel object (by right clicking >> create >> invoke node), the on the invoke node that will appear on the diagram, choose "get image" and link the image data to a "save to image" function.
You can find some code (luz.zip) that does something alike
here.
