How do I tell which products are included on my LabVIEW SN?

Solved!

I found a LabVIEW Serial Number for Version 8.6 (3rd quarter 2008) on an old employee's bookshelf.  I also have the disks for the NI Developer Suite.  How can I tell which software products are covered by this serial number?

Just contact NI Tech Support directly. Go to the "Support" page from the NI menu bar. They can tell you. Or, you can install all the software, providing that serial number, try to activate it, and see if it works.

While that would work, especially if you have no idea what you "own", it can be a big pain to go back and uninstall all the tidbits that some of those programs leave behind. You may end up with a confusing array of software listed in MAX, and a lot of question-mark icons on pallettes, etc.

I wish that the serial number / installer were better linked, so you could easily tell what is owned and what isn't, so that you don't get all the "demos".

Indeed. That was not a serious suggestion on my part. It was there to indicate the easy way (call NI) vs. the really really hard way (install and see). Smiley Wink

Send me a PM with your serial number and I can look it up for you.

We made some changes to the LabVIEW 2010 installer to do just that.  Now you are asked for any serial numbers you have up-front and we populate a tree with just the products you enter valid serial numbers for.  You then have the option of installing any "extras" for evaluation on the next screen which you can easily skip.

Is this the kind of linking you were hoping for?

Regards,

Simon

Yes, the 2010 installation would have been the answer to this question.  A call to 512-683-0100 did the trick.

That sounds great, thanks Simon. I'll pay closer attention when I finally bring the lab up to 2010. I installed it at my desk and I do remember it being painless.
