How do I upgrade my VIs from LabVIEW 3.1 to LabVIEW 7.1

Hello,

I have met a well known problem. I have to re-use some VIs from old version of LabView (3.1) to newer.

Every bit of documention I have found speaks about LabVIEW VI Conversion Kit, with this given part number 776874-03

But I can not get it.

Is there somebody to give me a solution?

I am working with Windows XP & LabView 7.1.

Thank you.

Hello Tipy,

To load a VI from LabVIEW 3.x or earlier, you must use the LabVIEW VI Conversion Kit, which is available free of charge from National Instruments. Converting VIs is a multistep process where VIs are mass compiled in one version of LabVIEW after another. For instance, to open VIs saved in LabVIEW 3.x  you must first mass compile them LabVIEW 4.0.1. After saving VIs in LabVIEW 4.0.1, you can open them in later versions of LabVIEW.

How to order the kit?

Part Number 776874-03
There is one part number for both Windows and MacOS. Included in the package is a CD containing LabVIEW 3.1.1 (MacOS and Windows) and 4.0.1 (MacOS and Windows). There are no installers; these versions can be run directly from the CD. Also included is a set of paper instructions describing the upgrade process (the PDF of these instructions is attached below). Contact the customer’s, sales rep to get the product shipped or go to www.ni.com/ask and ask for it .
