How do I use a DAQmx Scale on normal numbers?

I want to scale a number by a scale that is selected on my front panel.  I can do this for a linear scale or a map scale by simply doing the math to convert the number by the entered scale numbers.  I'm not a math whiz, so I don't know how to do this for the polynomial scales or the table scales.

My question is, is there an easy way to run a number through one of my DAQmx Scales and read the resulting number?  The only way I know how to utilize a scale is by actually taking a voltage measurement.

The Scaling and Mapping Express vi enables you to scale input signals of numeric types.  It is located in the Arithmetic and Comparison section of the Express section on the functions pallette.
