How do i acquire data from an ADC using labview?

HI,
I am a student carrying out a small project using labview! I have a combination of an ADC and TAC (not NI Hardware) which i would like to use to acquire data! The ADC/TAC is external! Does anyone have any suggestions of basic LabVIEW code to acquire data from such a setup! I have used VISA to identify the device.

any advice would be appreciated as i only have limited LabVIEW experience!

What ADC and TAC are they (manufacturer/model)? How is the hardware connected to the computer? You say that VISA can identify the device, if that is so you should be able to communicate with it, assuming that you have the information discribing the protocol for this communication! Let us know a little more and we may be able to help!

Hi LV!
Sorry I was a little vague! Basically trying to acquire data from a TDC-GPX from ACAM electronics. I have used VISA to tell me what the model name/number is, model is ATMD-PCI which is housed in a TCD-GPX Evaluation system. A cable connects the system to a card in computer, and I would like to acquire data on the TDC using a start and stop trigger from my sustem setup!

I am using the same device(ATMD GPX timing controller). I have connected the device in the PXI but the device is listed as UNIDENTIFIED under devices and interfaces in labview. I have installed all the drivers. Just couldnot find it out...where I got it wrong.
