How do i use LabVIEW to detect if a port is occupied?

I have a I/O box.

In this box, there is a USB-6009 and each ports are wired to a pin of a Sub-D port.

When i run my programm in LabVIEW, i want LabVIEW to 1st test if the plug is connected to the Sub-D port.

Does anyone have any idea how i can do this?

I guess it depend on what is connected to it. Do you have any spare pins that you could ground when the plug is inserted. You could read that.

i have found the solution.

Just link a digital I/O to GND.
