How does the counter on PCI6024E count? Once a period or twice?

I wander how the counter on PCI6024E count. I use both PCI6024E and Tech80 to check the same quadrature. It seems that the counter on PCI6024E counts twice. Why?

The operation of the counters is dependent on how they are configured. Make sure you do a "make current values default" before posting.

The counter of the 6024E, as well as the counters of all NI DAQ devices count the active edges that come to its source input. That is looking like a noise case to me.
Make sure the encoder is giving only one active edge per period.
