How to Setup Historical DSC Database on a standalone Server

Hey @all,

I am looking for documentation how to setup a standalone server for the DSC Module(Ver. 😎 Historical Database.
My aim is to log all data to this server. The Server will be running Win2K.
Do I have to install the complete Labview 8 software and the DSC Module?
Does a walkthrough exist how to setup a DSC server?
Thx!

The LabVIEW DSC Run-time includes a copy of the historical database and is significantly less expensive than buying a complete development set-up.

Thx for your answer. Do you know how to setup the DSC Runtime on a Server. How do I start the Citadel Service on the Server? Do you know where I can find Documentation on setting up the DSC Runtime?
Regards.

After installing the runtime you should only have to reboot the computer in order to get the citadel service running.  At the point, for citadel purposes, this machine will behave as though you had the DSC development system installed.  The 8.0 runtime has no setup requirements...it should only need to be installed.  Unlike previous versions, 8.0 requires you to build your application into an executable and the runtime should be invisible to you once you install it.  If this is not the case, please post about it so it can be looked at.

If you have specific questions, please post them and I will either try and help you find the answers, get them posted, or answer them myself.

Regards,
Robert

Thx for your hints. I ordered now the DSC Runtime License. We have the Labview 8 Developer Suite. There is a DSC disc included. The installation of the complete Module is not possible without the LV 8 Environment. Looking at the disc I can find the DSC RTS in a single directory. After installing the DSC RTS and the CITADEL Service there is no Database Service Running. On my Test Computer I made the complete DSC Module installation. The installation included an MSSQL Server. But I cannot find this server on the DSC disc. Does NI ship a special DSC RTS disc, or is there another way to get the server running? Could you please give me a step by step procedure?

National Instruments product installers are composed of several component installers.  The DSC run-time installer, for example, contains 36 components that are needed to run LV built applications that contain DSC functionality.  Several of these are required in order for the database to correctly function.  I'm sorry but I cannot tell you which components to run to get the database to operate...honestly I don't know.  There is a DSC RTS disk whose installer will contain the previoiusly mentioned 36 components.  Installing this disk will get you the database, MAX, and the LabVIEW variable engine.
