How to accees the LabVIEW Web Server using Chrome?

I'm usign WIndows 7 SP1 and there is no Google Chrome plugin in:

 \National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\Current LabVIEW Version\Browser Plugins

Only Firefox and IE folders/plugins. I tried copying these anyway to the Chrome \Application\Plugins folder but it still prompts the plugin error when I access the remote panel via Chrome. No problems under IE.

Dear Jeff,

What else happened on Saturday? (OS update? Chrome update? Change in security settings? antivirus update? etc.)

Is Chrome Update. I tried using Win7 machine with latest version of chrome also failed to access the webserver but previously can access using old version of chrome. Do you all having the same problem as me?

OK, as of the last chrome update, NPAPI plugins are disabled by default. My guess is that you simply need to enable them in the chrome configuration.

See here for details.

OK, just tested:

(I did not have a problem earlier because my chrome was still 41, but not that I upgraded to 42, I need the aorkaround too. :()

(If this causes it to work again, we might have a problem in fall when chrome discontinues support completely.)

Good news! It works by enabling NPAPI plugins. Thank you

From what I read so far on the web, Google seems hellbound to axe the NPAPI, no matter who begs them not to. And in a way it makes sense Smiley Sad. The only significant user base of that API in percentages according to Googles own numbers is Silverlight, a discontinued technology too, and one of a competitor as well! Smiley Wink

What is NI's solution to this after September 2015 when support NPAPI is completely removed?  Will we have to upgrade all our Real-time apps that use the Web Server to LabVIEW 2014 or be forced to use older versions of Chrome?

Since chrome auto updates, it would seem difficult to keep using old chrome versions. It would also be a bad idea because of all missing security patches.

Hello All,

As you discovered and quickly troubleshooted, Google Chrome version 42 now no longer supports the NPAPI plugin, which is used to implement the Silverlight-based interfaces provided by the LabVIEW and RT web interface and remote front panel (as well as a number of other web-based tools).

Here is a KnowledgeBase article that has been written to address this issue:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/760D1009EAAAB95586257E2F0054624E?OpenDocument

We hope to have full Chrome support in the future - this is a priority for us as it is one of the most popular browsers currently used by LabVIEW users. In the meantime, I would recommend sticking to a browser that supports NPAPI for using these features.

Feel free to direct message me if you have specific feedback or questions.

Best,
