How to apply an Intermittent voltage to an AC solenoid?

Hi!

I'm trying to apply an intermittent voltage to drive an AC push solenoid so that the solenoid is only pushing for 2 seconds at a time with a break of about 10 seconds or less.  How can I accomplish this?  Which component of my signal should I change?  (I am new to LabView) thanks for your time and help!

How accurate does your timing need to be?  Assuming you don't need millisecond timing, you can use software control to turn on or off the signal.  But that also depends on how you are driving this signal.

What hardware are you using to apply an AC signal to the solenoid?

The timing does not need to be accurate to the millisecond.   How do I use the software to drive the signal?  Just press on/off?  We are using LabView to drive the signal. does that answer your questions?

LabVIEW is software.  What kind of hardware are you using?  NI DAQ card?  Compact Fieldpoint?  Some other vendors DAQ hardware?  A digital output driving a relay?
