How to calculate Cp & Cpk values

Hi All,

Can anybody help me in understanding the process behind Cp & Cpk value calculations.I am working on an application wherin I need to capture data coming continously due to scanning done by laser beam on any product  (this optics energy gets converted into digital data) and I need to calculate the Cp &  Cpk values. If my data is within tolerance limits , I get Cp & Cpk values as infinite (most of the times) or any positive number say 12/24.78/3000/ anything and if my data is out of tolerance limit , it  comes as -0.03 etc..
However , the standard values are >2 and 1.33 .
Please tell me the proper way of capturing this data and framing batches for some gropups of data  .....

Thanks & Regards
Sarita
