How to change the color of the increment/decrement buttons programmically?

i know that there was the same question in 2005. Is there an other answer (without creating own buttons) now?

I am not sure if there such option exist after 8.6, but till 8.5 I guess not.

Work around would be palcing a seperate boolean up/down button looking like arrows, and changing its colour.
