How to control maxon motor with EPOS4 based on sbRIO 9627

Hello, everyone. Currently I would like to control a maxon motor with Labview 2015. The motor controller is EPOS4 which is quite new. I have successfully tested the EPOS4 controller via its offical LabView driver. But it is based on a Windows system. Now, I would like to control it with my sbRIO 9627. How could I do this? Where could I find the related driver for the sbRIO? Thanks!

Hello tyf,

i guess there are few information to answer. What's the protocol used to communicate with the motor? If the LV driver provided by the vendor is based on NI driver (ex. NI-VISA) you can easily transfer the API to a cRIO\sbRIO. Otherwise, if the 3rd party driver use, for instance, a dll, you have to contact the vendor and ask for a LINUX compiled library (.so file).

So, what's the case?

 https://www.maxonmotorusa.com/maxon/view/product/control/Positionierung/536630

there are RS232/CAN protocol descriptions besides the labview instrument driver

and it seems, you have to write the relevant communication yourself, the labview driver does not seem to be built on NI-VISA

If Tetris has taught me anything, it's errors pile up and accomplishments disappear.

No. guy! you can't! because there is no driver available for the Linux and Epos4.

I think it is possible to  drive EPOS4 thru DAC by the CSV mode that means you won't use the function of the EPOS4 but it is possible to make the motor move.

hope that will be helpful.
