I want to wire up the trigger of an air rifle and place a photo cell at the end of barrel to detect the exit of the projectile to get the time between trigger pull and pellet leaving the barrel. Is this possible and could someone help me write a program in labview?

This is possible, but you'll have to do more work on your end.
The forums are here to help you when you are having trouble and guide you along the way. If you want someone to help you write the program, you'll find there is a board called LabVIEW Developers Seeking Employment. Otherwise, you should try to start on your own and then come back with what you've tried if you run in to issues.
If you are starting out in LabVIEW, there are free training tools.

Sounds like a simple counter should do it. Well, one that can do A-B timing. From there, just dig into the DAQmx examples (assuming you are using an NI DAQ device).

I once worked with a world-class small-bore rifle shooter to put an electronic trigger with delay on his rifles including his target grade air rifle. Consider carefully how you will sense the trigger release. If the sensor does not precisely match the action of the mechanism, you could have significant errors.
