How to report fatal internal errors?

I encountered my first LabVIEW "fatal internal error" yesterday.  I encountered my second today on a different machine (different error as well).  It's not holding me up, just slowed me down as I had to restart LabVIEW ... luckily, I'm a Ctrl-S addict. 😉  But, my own professional standards say to tell NI about these errors so they can fix them.  So, if there is an official way, I will do it if someone points the way.  Otherwise, I'll just post them here.

If you are using LabVIEW 7.0 or later, there is an automated report mechanism built into LabVIEW.  Go to Tools > Options > Debugging and select "Prompt to investigate internal errors on startup".  Now, whenever you're using LabVIEW, if you get a fatal error that causes LabVIEW to shut down, you will be prompted the next time you start LabVIEW to report the error to NI...this will take you to a website where you can look at possible causes for the problem, or report the problem to NI Tech Support.

Hope this helps,
-D

P.S. - If you're using a version of LabVIEW prior to 7.0, you can report the error through the existing support channels (ni.com/support is a good place to start).

Thanks.  I was prompted to "investigate", which I declined as I thought it was similar to the "do you want to debug script" message I run across on some web pages.  Now I know, but since I have already declined, here is the one I got this morning ... panel.cpp, line 3846, LabVIEW version 8.0.1.  The other error is occurred on my laptop which I haven't powered up yet today.

ETA: Upon restart, I got this message as well:

The last time you ran LabVIEW, an internal error or crash occurred at undo.cpp, line 4404.

Hi Julie,

If you are able to reproduce the panel.cpp failure, please go to ni.com/support and report it to our technical support team so they can continue to investigate.  Unfortunately, it's hard for us to determine the cause of these kinds of problems if we can't reproduce them.
