How to set text to be transparent to clicks?

Solved!
Go to solution

Originating Need

I have the desire to have an LED-button on the Front Panel (FP) which is used as a Button. I would like to add white-text over the top of it as a label (e.g. 'Skip' or 'Run')

Current Issue

When a text Label is added on the FP over the top of the LED ('Reorder->Move To Front') you can't click on the LED through the text ๐Ÿ˜ž

Question

Is there a way to make the full region of the LED clickable here, specifically the region behind the white-text label?

If there is, that would be sooooo rad ๐Ÿ˜‰

You can have Boolean Text shown. Right-click the LED and go to Visible Items > Boolean Text

FYI, careful with having your email address in your signature. There are bots that scour forums like this for email addresses to sell.

Cheers

Example_VI.png

you can programically change "text" and "color" or make it "transparent" with property node

I think OP didn't know that boolean text was an option. He was having problems with a text label he made separately and put over the button and it blocked clicking.

In the below FP boolean, I can click the "OFF" just fine to control the button, but the other text blocks:

Hi James  & apok,

Thank you!!! I compiled your responses into a tabbed example VI, for others who may someday stumble upon this now silly question.

Thanks!

*I couldn't attach the VI for some reason... it was rejected on 'file-format'. So I just zipped it up and it magically posted ๐Ÿ˜‰
