How to upgrade labview version 7 to version 8

Hi,

1. I wish to know how to upgrade labview version 7 to version 8?

2. If I save my VI under labview 7, how can I run in labview 8 and back to labview 7. What are the steps needed?

Hi Ridwan,

1) do you mean how to by the newer version?

2) With LabView 8.5 you can run all vis saved with versions greater or equal than LV6. To open a vi which is saved with LabView 8.5 for example you can save this vi back to LV 8.0 and then you need LV8.0 to save it for LV 7.1.

Yes, the option that Mike is speaking of is called File » Save for Previous Version ....

LabVIEW 7 files will automatically open with LabVIEW 8, you don't need to do anything special.

Thanks for the big help. Anyway, Will it work the same with labview version 8.2 and my currernt labview version is 7.1

You can open 7.1 VIs just fine with 8.2 but you cannot save backwards. with 8.2, you can only sve to 8.0. You would need a copy of 8.0 in order to save backwards to 7.1.
