I'm in much the same situation, just received my cRIO-9012 and want to start using USB memory. I have two different memory sticks, and I'm about to find out if either are compatible with VxWorks.
How do I find out the model#, manufacturer etc? externally one is marked pqi, the other is marked 512MB. In my safely remove hardware window I can view SDMS SecureDrive USB Device & Generic USB Flash Disc USB Device.
Does the wind river website maintain a list of compatible USB sticks ?

Hi HS,
What USB device are you using? If it meets the USB specification and is detected as a new device when plugged into a Windows computer, it should work with your cRIO-9012.
With the USB drive connected to the 9012, you should be able to view the contents through Internet Explorer on a networked computer. Enter http://xx.xx.xx.xx/u:/ as the address, substituting the IP address of the Compact RIO for xx.xx.xx.xx. Does this work with your device?

I had the same problem with access to the usb drive on a crio 9012. I found that my Sandisk miro cruzer 1GB stick does not work (even after reformatting). My older Sandisk mini cruzer 128 Mb stick does work. I cannot access it by the http://xx.xx.xx.xx/u:/ call on internet explorer by I can access it with ftp://xx.xx.xx.xx/u:/ .
I ran the vi given above and it worked great.

Something else to keep in mind is that the 9012 requires a drive with USB 1.1 compatibility (it's in the 9012 manual). A USB 2.0 drive will not work. I found this out the hard way when trying to install a USB (mechanical) hard drive because we will be logging around 2 million events over a long test. All USB hard drives made today (except for a few special order units) are USB 2.0 minimum, and are rapidly going to USB 3.0. This could quickly become an obsolescence issue.

Thank you for the answer. it works great with the ftp:// thing instead of the http:// !!
