Hypervisor vs XP

Solved!
Go to solution

I am developing RT code on a PXI chassis while booted in the Hyperviser Mode and it works fine. I can deploy code to the RT and have GUI windows to display my system etc..

My question is why not just run under Hyperviser and not run under XP at all.

What is the difference between the two (Hyperviser vs XP).

Thanks

Hi CarmineS,

I'm not sure that I understand your question entirely.  Hypervisor is a software package that allows you to run both Windows and LabVIEW Real-Time on the same machine and share resources.  Is your question why you would run Hypervisor instead of just LabVIEW Real-Time?  Some applications require being able to access a UI on a system, which is what Windows provides.  There are lots of reasons to use Hypervisor, but it certainly isn't necessary in every case.  If you want some more information on how Hypervisor works, check out our white paper on NI Real-Time Hypervisor Architecture and Performance Details.  I hope this helps.
