I am trying to write a VI to retreive Strain values and record these to a data file has this been done before?

Hi Jayme,

there's an example included in LV package that does what you ask for.
You can find it in:
\examples\daq\solution\transduc.llb\Continous Strain Measurement.vi

It does not save data to file, but you can add Array To Spreadsheet File function, and it's done. Take a look to the several writing to file examples of LV.
I attach the vi here anyway.

I have written one that captures multiple channels of strain and files,also displays on graphs , with selectable channels , Let me know if you havnt found what your after yet ,
