I get a file permission error in Win XP . Same thing in Win2000 is OK

I set permissions at oct 666 and I can read a file in Win2000 but I get an error 8 at open file in Win XP. I am just getting set up on this XP computer. Thanks for any help.

i think XP permissions default to somethign screwy for the hard drive check to make sure you have rights on the hard drive as the user you are using when you get this error. also check out this link maybe it will help:
