I have a flexlm license conflict with other software (codewarrior)

I have both LabVIEW and Codewarrior installed on this machine. It appears that they both use FlexLM license manager and it can't deal with the conflict. When I install LabVIEW, it causes Codewarrior to fail to operate correctly. I used a utility that came with Codewarrior called lmdiag.exe and it shows a license file name of C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\License Manager\Licenses\LV_RemotePanelConnection.lic but it should show Codewarrior's license.dat file. Can I un-install LabVIEW and re-install without this remote panel connection feature and get it to not use FlexLM? Is there some way to get FlexLM to operate correctly with both LabVIEW and Codewarrior?

I am curious... I also have codewarrior installed, but I've never had a problem with Flexlm.

Which version of LV are you using?

This is LabVIEW 6.1 on WindowsXP Pro. I'm sure there is a way to get them both to cooperate but I don't know much about FlexLM.

Hey Powerwizard,

My initial guess of why this is occurring is LabVIEW may be changing a registry key that CodeWarrior is using to determine where the license file is located.  Could you post a screenshot from your registry of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager and also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FLEXlm License Manager\NILM License Manager?

Sorry for the slow reply. I thought Codewarrior support was going to fix this but I'm still having problems. They did give me a temporary license and I can now use Codewarrior and LabVIEW but if I try to use my "real" license for Codewarrior, it doesn't work.

Attached are the screenshots of the registry...

Thanks for your help.

Hey Dan,

I came across an article that I believe may help to resolve this issue.  This Knowledgebase talks about a situation where NI License Manager and another FlexLM application don't work properly together.  Check out this link.

FWIW I've had extended and unresolved problems with FlexLM used by other products (SolidWorks, Fluent, Gambit).  I removed these products from my laptop, but later my new installation of NI's MAX wouldn't open unless the laptop was plugged into our network.  On a hunch, eliminating the user environment variable LM_LICENSE_FILE = ####@AAAAAAA in Control Panel > System > Advanced fixed the problem.  [this web site looks like it's formatting that variable value as a web site, underlined, but it's intended as plain text.]

This doesn't fix the OP request to make both programs work together, but maybe it's worthwhile as a diagnostic, or to others in my situation?
