I have problems

I am a college student using labview to modify our Chemistry curriculum, and Ive got some general questions about labview and would love as much input as can be provided. Here is a list of my questions.

1. I have an oscilloscope express VI displayed. I want to take the useful data from the wave, take the natural log of the voltage data, and display it on a new graph with the time data. I can't figure out how to do this.

2. I want to display the above data on a chart, but I only want the useful data.

3. Is it better to use the oscilloscope express VI rather than an actual oscilloscope?

4. Is there other places to find instrument drivers than the NI website?

That is it for now, but Im sure I will have more.

Thanks!

Here's a start...

Do you have the desired data array from the Express VI?  If so, then take logn from it and wire the resulting array to a graph.  The graph palette is located within the Front Panel Controls Palette. (I should ask which version of LV that you are using).

2. I want to display the above data on a chart, but I only want the useful data.
Please define "useful data".  Do you mean a section of the graph?  on data after the logn? How would you select the data?

I prefer using normal vi's versus express vi's.  Other people might feel differently.  However, you can have more functionality when communicating to the instrument using VISA or instrument drivers.

4. Is there other places to find instrument drivers than the NI website?
Typically, the manufacturer's website should have the instrument drivers.  What is the make/model of the oscilloscope that you are using?

That is it for now, but Im sure I will have more.
Okay..  🙂

Just a quick note.  The Scope Express VI is meant only for NI High-Speed Digitizers.  So if you are using an NI Scope then the "Instrument Driver" is simple NI-Scope.

If you are using another companies scope then you will need to use their VIs and driver.
