I need to know how to take the derivative of a set of numbers

I have a number string and need to know how to obtain the derivative of that number string. I'm having trouble using the derivative block. Is there a way i can use the definition of the derivative to implement this?

You can always take two consecutive points and calculate the slope.

We certainly need more information on your string of numbers.
